Yesterday Lufthansa has announced that its subsidiary, Lufthansa cityline, will be stopping all operations on Saturday the 18th April 2026. Only cityline is affected, the main Lufthansa is still operating. Cityline was founded as a regional subsidiary of Lufthansa in 1958 and has been operating CRJ jets since long. However, these jets were already pretty old and were planned to retire in 2028. Due to the closure of the Hormuz strait and the slowly fading kerosene which is only available for 5 more weeks in Europe the cityline has been surprisingly shut down 3 years too early. Many people now lost their job but got invited to join the main Lufthansa. All 39 jets will be grounded tommorow. Most operations will be replaced by Lufthansa and Lufthansa City.
