Going Back To The Good Old Days

Yesterday on the Training server I decided to fly from Los Angeles (How crazy am I) to Austin for a test flight of how a 757 will work on this route.
I had great controlling. Ground was @Pilot_Felix and center was @AIFC they did great handling such a load.
The flight time was 2:29

Let’s get started!

Taking off with a familiar sight at LAX. He was not cleared on the runway

Climbing over the Beutifial Los Angeles Scenery

Crusing over Arizona

Somewhere over New Mexico

Starting our decent into Austin

On downwind for runway 35R

Starting the visual approach runway 35R

First time I ever buttered in cockpit veiw. I must work on my centerline

Safely parked at the gate

Overall it was a great and I really liked it, the 757 handled very well.
It was definitely a trip back in the memory books with KLAX on Training.

The 757 is the one giving me the most problems. Mainly rudder. It’s very sensitive and I just can’t get the hang of it. My landings in it often look like a snake slithering ha

Here’s what I learned about the 757… Instead of waiting until you’re 30ft above to apply rudder, apply rudder at about 100ft above (especially on windy days) so that way you can smooth out the sensitivity and you’ll still have time to keep the centerline after adding rudder. As for takeoff, your ailerons are going to be your best friend!! On windy days, use a good amount of rudder but keep your ailerons in a position that levels out the plane. If you’re not using the right amount of rudder or ailerons, the plane will kind of tilt and eventually get blown off of centerline 🤷🏾‍♂️ Same thing with any other plane but the 75 is just more sensitive. As for slightly windy days (I.e. 4kts) you could get away with applying rudder a little closer to the ground, but I’d still prefer 100ft above just so I can make sure I’m on the centerline.

Very very well, good job☺️😀

@JGordon. Thank you, I will try your advice and see what happens

Sir. Good advice. I tried a landing using the ruder at 100 as you said. I was not perfectly on the centreline, but my 757 didn’t snake down the runway. Thank you
