Go fly by Boeing — Contest

Boeing has sponsored a competition to create basically a newer updated smaller version of the jet pack that anyone can fly/pilot.
Grand prize is $1,000,000
And the four runner up prizes will be $50,000
Designs are due next year and flights will be conducted the following year.
All groups have access to aviation experts to aid them.
Tell me what you think below.

I just found out you have to be 18 to participate unfortunately.

I would just make my dad participate while I do all the work. Simple. I have tried making jetpacks before. Some were successful. I still have the blueprints. Fingers Crossed!

Yep I will also donate the money to FDS

@Daniel14. MaxSez; Here’s a bit of help from a cyber friend!

This is my plan to build the jetpack:

Design:
Carbon composites will make up the wings, the wings will be a delta wing, since its a delta wing there will be no flaps. The engines will be tiny but they will be turbojet, they will produce no more than 800 pounds of thrust per engine, there will be two engines.
These engines will be hybrid so they can be powered by jet fuel and gas, For control there will be a throttle button to imput power, a mini joystick you can control with your thumb to move the aileorons, there will be no elevators on this Jetpack so in order to Climb/Descend you must control it with the throttle. The jetpack will also have a deployable parachute to help you slow down for touch down/incase engines fail, the range for this jetpack would be somewhere around 120nm non stop.
For gauges I will have a multi million dollar helmet built with tech that allows you to show your instruments while in flight, this helmet will also allow you to manuever the jetpack side to side if you dont want to use the joystick.
For auto pilot we will fly straight until you run out of fuel or turn the auto pilot off.
With turbo jet engines, top speed will be at around 600 mph, but unless you’re iron man im sure no one would like to go that fast, service ceiling will be 2500 feet MSL, this will also be equipped with a Mode C Transponder so you can fly this into Class Bravo Airspace, you will also have to speak to tower/approach so you can stay clear of any traffic.

Cost:
Millions, I need a loan for this and lots of help from engineers and aviation experts.

Anyone to partakes in this challenge I say good luck. You would need to know lots about engineering and aeronautics. If you know that then hats and mustaches off to you. I would have tried to do this if I was old enough and had the money to put in for it.

So your plan is to not put any of it in the bank? Smart.

Thanks for telling us your idea! Now, it’s time for me to copy it 😏. But seriously, never reveal your ideas, somebody could take it and use it as their own.

What’s wrong with a paramotor? 😄
In all seriousness, it’s great that Boeing has taken a leap in their efforts to create jetpacks.

Coke + Mentos + Duct tape + cardboard tubes.

$1,000,000 for me

That would be 350kt tape in this case.

PS- are you flying backwards loading the Mentos?
