Gloomy Afternoon Arrivals Into Melbourne

Gloomy Afternoon Arrivals Into Melbourne

Today, I decided to go spotting at Melbourne Tullamarine International Airport (YMML).

It was a gloomy and very overcast day, as you can see from the pictures below… it’s also my first time plane spotting, so the pictures might not be the very best.

In case you are wondering, I use a Nikon D3500 with a 70-300mm lens.

Anyway, enough of me rambling on, time to get to the photos…

Here we’ve got a Jetstar Boeing 787-8 lining up for departure from Runway 34. These flight appears to either be completing a repositioning, or a crew training flight as flightradar24 showed no destination.

Next on the list is VH-VWN from Jetstar. The 4 year old Airbus A321 was arriving from Sydney, and was captured on short final to runway 34 in the photo above. Remember what I mentioned about the gloomy day… haha!

Next on the list is… oh wait, it’s the same aircraft above, just from a different angle. This has a bit more lighting, but still the typical Melbourne weather, doesn’t help.

Okay, actually next on the list is Virgin Australia B737-800 with registration VH-YIM arriving from the Sunshine Coast, they really had to rub it in about the weather with arriving from Sunshine Coast, didn’t they? This aircraft is 9 years old.

Last but not least, is a 10 year old Qantas Boeing 737-800 arriving from the capital of Australia… Sydney! Love the landing lights in this photo, they look like a pair of evil eyes staring down on us.

Hope you all enjoyed these photos, and believe it or not it is my first time plane spotting with my camera and my new lens, so still trying to get all the settings figured out.

Let me know what photo is your favourite!

Thanks so much! Wasn’t sure how it was going to go with the new lens.
