Interesting - Just spotted a fellow flyer around Scandinavia, particularly just above EKCH. What’s causing this circlelike motion in the middle of a flight path ?
Typically what happens is that your flight plan has two waypoints that are too close together and have too much of a turn that your plane will not be able to complete the turn and reach the waypoint in question. The way the autopilot is programmed, it will do anything to aim for that waypoint, even if it means circling until you get close enough to the autopilot’s liking.
Thanks for the reply, Wizrak.
That’s odd. Dude is stuck. He’s not going anywhere now. I’ve been observing his circles and he’s been circling around for atleast 5 times, since I spotted him on the map.
It is exactly as @LordWizrak said, this has happened to me a couple of times. Can really drain your fuel without knowing. It has also caused me to stall and crash as well cause if you are high enough it can make it difficult to keep speed. Best way to avoid is keep minimum 15 nm between waypoints I have found.
That’s good to know for future flights, so I don’t find myself circling and crashed due to the deviation on the flight plan. Thanks @BP-Aviation for replying.
This is actually a great way to prevent overflying your destination airport if for some reason you’re not at your device when you should be landing -before the SID/STAR/approach procedures were added to the game I would do this intentionally to not overfly my destination airport by hundreds of miles
Yeah, maybe so, but the problem is, he’s in the middle of his flight plan… @Altaria55
So I guess he just caught a bad waypoint in the map. or too close on the waypoints.
He is sleeping while his plane is still flying over his destination.
I hope he is having a good sleep
His destination is Islamabad quite a ways away.
He’s far from his destination though. OPIS Islamabad is his destination Airport. No where near Scandinavia. :) Oh well. He’ll find out later. :)
@JayRex @Fourthnebula919, yeah I know, I saw my mistake after I said it, but didn’t bother removing it
