Give altitude callouts priority over ATC chatter on landing

I’m not sure if anyone has noticed this, but on landing, when the altitude is being called out (i.e. 100, 50, 40, etc), if the ATC is speaking it ‘overrules’ (for want of a better word) the spoken callouts. I think it would be a good idea to give the callouts priority over the ATC, as for me at least the callouts play a significant part in the quality of my landings.
On a side note, I am aware that it is possible to reduce the ATC volume, however that would mean changing it before and after landing, which is something of an inconvenience. I am also aware that this is a very minor issue, and realise I should perhaps stop being lazy and just change the volume each time instead.

No idea what this guy ^^^ is talking about, but I agree with this idea.

Perhaps an automatic reduction in ATC volume when the radio altimeter is active might work.

Nothing wrong with posting this that I know of. I think it’s a great idea. I would love to not have unnecessary chatter in my ear.

Exelent idea ! It really frustrating also when for some reason the callout doesn’t work all the way and just says “10” !! and you slam on the runway. Like you said, the call outs plays a major role when landing.

Is the background ATC chatter even still in the game?

Want realism? The overlapping ATC and GPWS chatter is just a small taste! (I personally like it, but that’s just me.)

Welcome to the reality of a modern cockpit - sometimes multiple radio frequencies, plus alarms, buzzers, tones, announcements, and important stuff other crew members are saying. It’s hard to concentrate - hence “sterile cockpit” rules in real life:

But it’s impossible to hear the altitude callouts over the ATC, it’s not an issue of being more attentive.

I don’t mean that, I mean the spoken ATC commands.

Perhaps it’s a difference between devices issue the OP is describing… I actually hear both at roughly the same volume on my phone. Sorry, perhaps I misunderstood.

No worries. Also, I was the OP.

I get annoyed to have a hrad landing becous i dont hear my altitude callouts, becous i want to look to the runway and not to the altitude AGL in the bottombar

Hah. I needed sleep.

Fair enough :-)
