Extension to 15/33 and a new runway for larger aircraft such as the A380 which had just recently made its first flight to Birmingham a month or 2 ago
That would be pretty big!
More work for people like Kilt, Henrik, Dush, I, etc. š
I think it would be worth it. Donāt you?
Yep. š What will be the numbers? š¤ Maybe 15L/R and 33L/R??? Seems pretty logical š¤
Im sure you will figure it out :D
Whenever it gets completed. This started only recently, the KLGA refurbishment will be done before this (Bigger terminal + AirTrain) Estimated 2020
Sounds great!
Continuation about that here :)
Itās not going to happen, the Runway extension was completed on 22 July 2014, the second runway has been pushed for but likely wonāt happenā¦ apparently the government believes London is the only place in the UK people live (smh) Birmingham is getting busy but if I can still get an IFR Slot time in my Lonely PA34ā¦ still plenty of capacity :)
Why do you (always) forget me? :'(
Surely London Gatwick should get an active second runway before Birmingham, isnāt that a higher priority?
Not necessarily but more likely, BHX is one of the most accessible airports in the UK āFor a 120-minute travel time, Birmingham Airport captures over 35 millionā thats half the UK, but the problem is The Government doesnāt wanna hear it, itās all about LONDONā¦ and if there is additional runway built some where in Londonā¦ how much do we want a bet LHR will get itā¦ or a new airport for that matter (no idea what happened to that Thames Project idea) I think Gatwick is quiet the commute for people living around Londonā¦ let alone the rest the countryā¦ Compared to LHR rather.
Yeah BHX is more accessible to the population but from my part of the U.K. We donāt even hear about flights from there, itās either a commute to the London airports or Bristol, or even East Midlands has a lot of flights. Gatwick is horrible to drive to but it has the highest number of operations on just a single runway. Iād prefer to see Heathrow expanded over Gatwick because I donāt see the point in creating two competing hubs, it goes against the point of a hub.
BHX will see a lot for International Flights now that the runway is extended, but Gatwick is now owned by a different Company so I bet they would love the competition!!! but Gatwick is where it is today because of Easyjetā¦ as long as they grow so will gatwick (plus all the International Flights) so although there will be some competition, Lets me honest as soon as more slots are available at LHR BA will get first choice and eat them upā¦ and all the other airlines will eat the scrapsā¦ EasyJet and BA are on two different ends of the spectrumā¦ so another runway may not be bad for both airportsā¦ certainly good for EZY and BA which in turn could be good for this economy of ours. Gatwick could be the Low-cost Cost Hub and LHR Legacy ?
Dush. You count as āetc.ā
Sorry, I was tying at 11 at night
That has nothing to do with any expansion?
The runway has already been extended for the A380
Hope to get some traffic from the Far East!
