Game Crashes

I’ve had a constant issue with game crashes. Normally I wouldn’t ask for support because it’s bound to happen sometimes, but it’s become a very regular issue for me. Short haul, and long haul flights. Busy airspace, or minimal traffic.
I am in love with the flight resume feature. It’s definitely a saving grace. However it is pretty frustrating going from base to final, then having to spend an extra 30+ minutes from the top of VNAV.

I have all my graphics settings to medium. As well as the airplane count. I run at 30FPS.

I regularly clear my data cache, refresh/ restart the app. I have deleted and redownloaded the app several times. I also power down, and give my device a rest regularly. I am still having this issue.

I was wondering if there is anything else I could do to reduce the amount of crashes without having to drop my graphics to low.

Any recommendations? Also id like to give a huge thank you to the support team, as well as the IF community!

Hey there!

Sorry to hear about your troubles with Infinite Flight’s stability.

I’d advise trying this, after all. I understand it’s not an ideal solution for you, as it would impact your visual experience negatively, however, it may prove necessary. Your iPad has just 3GB of RAM - this is the minimum required for Infinite Flight. iOS kills the app if it exceeds a certain memory threshold, or if it starts allocating memory too quickly. You’ll likely find that your app crashes are most common on final approach - it’s at this stage that large amounts of memory are allocated to IF in order to render different airport items (pavements, taxiway lines, buildings (if available), etc.)

Setting your graphics to Low will help keep the memory usage lower - there will be less 3D objects to render, and the resolution and quality will be lower, all of this requiring less memory - and making the app less likely to be crashed by iOS.

Try setting all your graphics, as well as the airplane count, to Low and see if that results in less app crashes. Once you’ve got a stable app, you can try to increase the settings to Medium one by one to see what you can keep at Medium, and what needs to be set to Low - though I personally doubt your device will be able to handle anything higher than Low and remain stable.

Hope this helps!
