GA Spawn Points

To begin with, this might not even be feasible, as I do not know the parameters of the Airport editing program. However, could it be possible to turn GA spawn points towards the nearest taxiway? Since GA don’t have push back enabled, it is hard to turn them around. The same goes for fighter tie-downs, etc. In real life, these would have tugs or other means to turn them around. Since we don’t have that in IF, I was wondering if the spawn points could instead be turned around/pointed towards the direction of the nearest taxiway. That way you could just start taxing, instead of awkwardly turning around. Thanks!

If this is not feasible, then please alert the moderators to close this since we cannot incorporate it into IF.

If anyone finds an issue, feel free to add below, this is a wiki. However, it seems like most of the areas are fixed…

GA Spawn points are placed in the GA parking areas so we wouldn’t be able to place in closer to the taxiway. It’s only based on where the GA parking areas are in real life.

Yes, I’m an airport editor.

I think what he means is, in real life, you taxi up to your spot, shut down, and push the plane backwards into the tie down. Get out, tie it down and leave. Now when you come back, you untie your aircraft, pre flight, get in, start it, and just taxi straight out and forward and then turn on the taxi way.

Hmm, sorry, I don’t seem to understand you. Do you have a video example to show?

No but I have a picture of the plane that I fly in when I want to go flying. I’ll post it here. As you can see in the picture, they are parked so that instead of having to flip a 180 out of parking, you can just pull straight forward on to the taxi way and turn right or left towards the active runway @Maxmustang back me up here

To my knowledge, some airports in IF have GA spawn points that are right in front the taxiway.

That’s not the issue. The issue is almsot all of them when you spawn in your facing the wrong way so you have to turn around super awkwardly. In real life you’d push the aircraft back, tail first after a flight, not before a flight

Only a few airports like EBAW have them turned the right way.

You need to give airport examples. All the GA spots I have spawned into have been the correct orientation.

Yeah actually. I just went through and started spawning at random airports. All of them were facing the right way. I was going off what OP was stating as a problem. It may be the OP was talking about like FBO spawns or something. Not sure. I test like ten different airports in all different regions and they all seemed correct.

MaxSez: “Spawn Points”, agree with Rock, they should be oriented to facilitate ez’y/direct access to a taxiway! However, don’t blame IF, let’s keep in mind the airport infrastructure editor team is utilizing real world architectural drawings, schematics, aerial imagery ect when they set to work and are doing a bang up job. I believe what you see today in 80% of cases are accurate depictions. The 20% incomplete are still works in progress. In my experience it appears the popular “B” are complete & accurate. IF has come a long way baby! Some remember when IF runways where just Slabs of concrete or undercernable grass/dirt patches un recognizable at 2 mike. Next step, better illumination (intensified beacons), Blue Taxiway lighting, signage ect. Hopefully IF airfield will have a “Signature”! A Silhouette Discernible from 10 miles in VMC some day.

not sure if this is what the thread starter mean but ive illustrated with simple paint drawing.

1)So normally we taxi into GA parking like this

2)But when we spawn into the map, we are still faced this way and we need to do a 180.

  1. Thread starter might be asking if we could be spawned like this instead so we can taxi straight out since we cant push back.

Correct me if im wrong ^^

These are probably not real GA spawn points. This is what you should see. It is possible that some of the older airports have incorrectly named spawn points. Please point out where you see these ‘opportunities’ so that they can be rectified. You guys are the ‘eyes’ of IF. We need your help.

Thanks for all the input guys, you are right, I’m talking about the orientation in those spots, not to move the spots themselves. I will keep my eyes out for examples. So far, the fighter tie-downs at KSSC are wrong to my knowledge, (unless they are meant to do a 180 turn there), as well as at YSCN. The YSCN GA spawn points on the grass are facing away from the taxiway. (I flew there yesterday, and that’s what made me create that). I’ll create a list up top and make that a wiki, so anyone who finds awkward spots can put it up there. Thanks again.

There may not be that many. The airport editors have done a great job of redoing most airports. I’ll keep my eyes peeled, but like some of you said, the majority of spots are already corrected…

@Kilt_McHaggis Are those the spawn points labeled Fighter Tie Down? I’m talking about Fighter Tie Down 1, 2, and 3 (they appear first in the list of spawn points). I think those are different than ones above… Otherwise my main example I guess would be YSCN.
