Hello from beautiful Grand Marais, Minnesota! Located a mere 30 miles south of the Canadian border, Grand Marais is a popular tourist destination and jumping off point for those heading to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, Kabetogama State Forest, and Voyageurs National Park. We’re loading up 9 Irish hikers who just finished 2 weeks trecking in the Northwoods, and have hired us to fly them down to Minneapolis for their connecting flight home to Dublin.
Fighting some crosswinds as we lumber into the air with a heavy load of passengers and gear.
Climbing slowly to 9,000 feet as we cross over Lake Superior, the town of Grand Marais in full view.
View from the nose gear mounted GoPro as the aircraft bounces it’s way across the largest of the Great Lakes, drawing near to the Apostle Islands Maritime Forests State Natural Area in Wisconsin.
Our routing took us unusually far to the East, to avoid a large weather system.
Flying along the Saint Croix River, which separates Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Starting our gradual decent into Minneapolis, heading through the very bumpy eastern edge of the storm.
Overflying the northern border of the City of Minneapolis, on approach to MSP’s Runway 17
