I know that many of us do not buy the full year subscription because we cannot hash out a $50 payment all together. I personally would love to have the full subscription. My suggestion is a full year subscription withdrawn monthly but obviously at a price higher than the $5/month. Something like maybe 7.50? Still cheaper than most monthly game subscriptions out there and may be worth considering.
Something like that might work. My plan is every time I go to Walmart I’m going to pick up a $10 play store gift card. Once I have $50 worth I’ll cash in
and thats why I think it would be a good idea, because it takes away the aspect of having to save up to buy the subscription.
I don’t feel comfortable with buying a year, just in case somthing happens and that 50 is gone.
I think many would look at their monthly subscription and think whats 2.50 more to get all the planes and regions? and from a business perspective, it is definitely a logical alternative for the IF customer base.
but would you be more willing to buy a Live+ subscription, knowing what you are gonna get if it was, lets say…$7.50?
But the thing is, Live+ is meant to be cheaper than buying 12 months of Live, and adding this is defeating the purpose. Subscription for a year helps with consumer loyalty, and with live+ you wouldn’t have to keep renewing it every month. Point is, it’s not feasible, both in IF’s perspective and a consumer stand point.
Think about it. Why do people usually pay up front instead of montly instalments? It’s cheaper in the long run and you wouldn’t have to dig out money from your wallet every month to feel depressed about it. The free planes and locations are just a bonus :)
I dont understand how it wouldnt be feasible. Not everyone can dish out $50 dollars in one blow. I understand your stance on consumer loyalty and I am not saying to remove the option of paying $50, it would still be there but consumer loyalty is not dishing out a lumpsum to FDS.
Consumer Loyalty? You are missing those who love IF and would love to have the ability to fly in all these regions but find it more feasible to pay on a monthly basis. I, for example, love IF and continue to buy Live every month without hesitation(you want to talk about consumer loyalty? thats consumer loyalty) but I cant drop $50 of my money all at once. I have no doubt there are many out there with my situation.
Okay, I’ll do the math for you.
Live USD$5 monthly
Live+ USD$50 yearly
Live+ USD$7.50 monthly
Using base Live subscription as comparison,
Live + Monthly costs $7.50-$5=$2.50 more than base Live
Live + yearly is $50/12=~$4.16 per month, means that it’s actually cheaper by base Live by $5-$4.16=$0.84. That also means that it’s cheaper than what you’re proposing by $0.84+$2.50=$3.34.
Sure it doesn’t hurt for the devs to earn a bit more but it’ll be even more worth it to save up for a Live+ subscription instead of a monthly subscription. Save up for 10 weeks, about 3 and a half months for another year of Live, plus free planes and locations. mind you, they add up to $180. See where you’re saving.
This post isn’t meant to say that the devs don’t deserve support. They do, especially with the amount of hard work they put in. Can’t wait for global flight!
My proposal is an example of what the price could be. Obviously FDS can set it to whatever they feel is right. My point is that even if it is a bit more, it provides you with a chance to pay monthly rather than 1 lumpsum if it is easier for you to do so. Even with paying a price of $7.50 a month you are still saving yourself $90 out of the $180.
Again, I understand that it is cheaper but like I said my proposal is not the $7.50 but the ability to pay monthly for Live+.
Feasibility.
The yearly subription is worth 10 months of monthly subscription and you get everything with the yearly, I think this is good enough.
If it was 7.50 I would buy it just to see if I like it, I have not personally played live so I don’t know if I’d like the experience
You can get a refund …
Having a monthly pay for a yearly subscription would never work. If it was monthly, and had the same total price at the end of the year, then it would be cheaper than the normal monthly subscription. Not to mention getting all the planes and regions. If it was more expensive, the price would ruin the whole point of the yearly, which is for people to pay more money upfront to get a better deal in the end.
1-month, 6-month, 12-month subscriptions were added a while back.
