Are fuel tanks kept under ground in airports? I’m asking because an Emirates 777 is using a truck to pump fuel from the ground

This is the case at EKCH and surely at many other airports. They have the fuel below the airport.
Is this to save time by not waiting for a fuel truck?
Yes, and also to make it more convenient.

Yes, many airports have it. Fuel supply is piped to all stands and therefore they just need a pump truck/vehicle to get it into the aircraft

It sure is! I am pretty sure all new terminals are built like this - I may be wrong though. I am 90% sure the New Heathrow T2 and T5 will be like this… but I could be wrong
