Hey guys! I usually fly the Boeing 777 family a lot and my most common flights are (KLAX-KPHX, , KLAX-KSAN, KLAX-KSFO, EGLL-LFPG, EGLL-EDDF, OTHH-OMDB, RKSI-ZSPD, and RCTP-VHHH. A recurring problem that I had is that I have way to much fuel when flying and I will finish the flight with at least 20%+ fuel. Anybody know any calculations that I need to do preflight to know how much fuel I need for the flight?
Hello,
I would certainly recommend using a flight planning software such as simbrief.com if you don’t do so already. This should assist in planning more accurately so you don’t overfuel or even underfuel your aircraft.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.
Have a great rest of your day!
Simbrief is good especially for the V-speeds and whatnot on certain aircraft but I find this is more accurate for Infinite Flight:
Take your gate to gate time and add your reserve plus whatever Extra for winds as required. So for example let’s say you gate time is 7:54 or7.9hrs.
Gate: 7.9hrs+ 2.5hrs=11.4hrs
Since I don’t have the 777 fuel flow information handy I will use the A330-900neo information.
11.4 hours x 4600kg/h =52440kg that would be you minimum requirements for fuel. At most I would add another hour worth of fuel at most depending on prevailing winds. East bound I generally will carry less fuel compared to westbound.
