Fuel burn on A220?

Hey guys, I’m not sure if it’s the headwinds but I am experiencing horrible fuel burn on the A220. I used SimBrief to get the fuel for the way there but it isn’t enough. I’m running on 50 mins left of fuel and 58 mins to my destination so i’m cooked lol :wilted_flower:

Probably too close to destination to make any real difference but how heavy are you and how high?

Cruising at FL36 with about 3,400lbs of fuel

when you get the cargo from simbreif, you need to roughly halve it, because IF puts in wayy too much., about twice what simbreif wants, leading to more fuelburn

I see you on InfiniteX. Since you started at 360 on that long of a flight you probably just burned too much early to recover. I don’t have exact numbers but it seems given what weight you would’ve been that’s probably an extra 15% at minimum compared to optimal. The A220 does not give you the standard IF buffer on fuel burn so you need to be careful with it.

Yea, but I’m about to start descent lets see of slowing down a bit helps me make it, I have KPSP close enough to ditch the plane and divert though so not all hope is gone

Well guys i failed lol on the bright side I got 0 violations :grin::grin:, I tried ditching into Burbank but ran outta fuel 6nm out but it was worth a shot

Can I see your Simbrief OFP?

I am unsure how to share that on here, the file isn’t supported.. Unless im trying to send the wrong thing

Just a screenshot like this, I’m just curious

Oh this is interesting. I think this puts you at a 55% ZFL which means flying optimally you’d need 10.7k kg just to make it to SBA, and about 13.3k kg to make it with your reserves intact. Given that optimal would’ve been 320 for quite a bit of this flight and 340 near the end and you flew 360 the whole way, I’m not that surprised that you didn’t make it. I would try something between P10 and P15 for longer flights like this.

Screen shot your fuel details.

Did you check FAA min required alternate fuel?

Honestly no I didn’t and I should have.

I’m sure he loaded the specified amount of fuel just fine, the issue is that he flew too high in the early stages of the flight. Had he flown optimal, he would’ve made it albeit probably not too comfortably. If he only loaded the 9.3k trip fuel, he would’ve crashed well short of SBA. Probably wouldn’t even had made it to Cali.

Could it have also been the 80kt headwind I experienced the whole way there or just altitude wise?

In this case its a bandaid because technically you shouldn’t need it but before you adjust fuel factors you want to have everything set baseline minimum first.

Simbrief factors that in as long as you fly the route and assigned altitude.

Edit: And of course assigned speed.
