Frontier Airlines and Southwest Airlines clip wings

EMERGENCY Frontier Airlines #F9756 and Southwest #WN4182 clipped wings during pushback at Phoenix Sky Airport

This is actually really sad for me. Frontier so far hasn’t really been on any news for any reason other than their issues with fares etc. sad that something has happened now.
But I mean how? If hey were pushing back at the same time, the tug drivers and grounds crew really should have been paying more attention. Your thoughts?

Exactly. Nothing to do with frontier, other than their ground crews on both airline ends. But I believe PHX uses airport-supplied ground crews…I may be incorrect

Yikes that doesn’t look good. It could’ve been much worse though. My thoughts, if they’re pushing at the same time this shouldn’t have happened. It’s why airports have people that walk under the wingtip during push, to prevent things like this happening. As long as all the passengers are okay, though, that’s what really matters.

Very true. I’m just curious how two planes were allowed to strike wings like this. It should be nearly impossible.

The tug driver should pay for both wings:-)

Yeah lol, Frontier will be perfectly capable of fixing it :)

I know ;) they don’t need no ductape

And why wouldn’t they be? It’s not like these tugs go at 60 mph

Nothing’s impossible, and that’s a fact

It is nearly impossible but it has happened before. Sometime in late 2016 two LATAM 787’s hit wings during pushback I believe. Unfortunate.

Well maybe there was an old person on board and the big shake scared them and they had a heart attack. You never know…

I see your point, carry on

When you push a plane your field of view is very limited, it is up to your wing walkers to monitor what is behind the plane and signal to stop the push should they see something.

Sounds just like TS1…I feel bad for Frontier. Is this the first “accident” for the airline? Shouldn’t the Southwest pilots have seen the Frontier plane pushing back? Duck tape fixes all problems.

Thank you for that. It really helps :) I always wondered what the wing crew were there for exactly. I thought they helped the tug driver know when to curve or push a certain way.

It’s not the first accident I believe. They have yet to have any real major or fatal accident. (If my facts are correct)

Oh no. Frontier would do anything in order to fly, wouldn’t surprise me if they flew with Duck tape.

lol I guess you haven’t flown Frontier. They do cancel flights. And yes I’m going off on a limb here considering they are THE best airline. But they do have their issues as any airline does. True they are low cost so they fly as much as possible but they have a really good safety record and no major incidents. I’m pretty sure they aren’t that cheap 😉
