This WILL COUNT as day 7 for my 25 days of pictures “advent calendar”
This week has been pretty “cold” for South Florida 🏝️😎🛥️🏌️ with temperatures going as low as 50 degrees Fahrenheit and only being as high as the low 70s. Yeah most people wouldn’t consider this cold but Floridians definitely do. And despite living here for a long time I’ve always preferred the cold weather over the heat. Don’t get me wrong summer is fun but just being outdoors ALL DAY especially on 4th of July is just painful. But I took advantage of this cold weather to do some plane spotting at my favorite airport in my area. Miami International and decided to go at night since most importantly I was busy the whole day but 2nd so I can spot all the long hauls I could get since around 8 to 11pm is a BIG PUSH for long haul flights out of MIA. I chose to spot near the cargo area giving me a good view of runway 8R where most departures are using along with a special guest so without further to do, let’s go!
Starting things off pretty boring is this American Airlines Boeing 737-800 performing the pretty short hop to Orlando! 🏰🐭
Another AA B738 lining up for her departure over to New York-JFK 🗽🍎 imagine these poor snowbirds coming all the way from up there to down here expecting heat 24/7 but got hit by a cold front. 😂
Those were the only 2 narrow bodies I caught last night and the rest will be wide bodies like this Air Europa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner heading across the pond to Madrid, Spain! 🇪🇸
Next up is an American Airlines Boeing 777-200ER heading down to São Paulo, Brazil 🇧🇷 a city I plan to visit sometime next year possibly before school ends. 👀
She will be followed by a fellow AA B772 heading to the capital of the South American stick which is Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱 I’ve already been there but definitely would like to return Santiago and Chile 🇨🇱 in general are definitely places I recommend visiting!
The B772 is one of my favorite planes but it isn’t my #1 pick that going to the longer Boeing 777-300ER, American has a few in their fleet heading to some of their most premium destinations which granted this aircraft the flagship status, London Heathrow, UK 🇬🇧 is one of AAs most premium destinations making the B77W common there and Miami 🏝️😎 is one of the destinations that uses them!
I was definitely happy to catch that AA B77W heading to Heathrow but once I figured out that another one was coming my way, I was just blown away and here is another one of these beautiful birds heading off towards an equally beautiful city. Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷
The Miami 🏝️😎 to London route is extremely popular, 4 carriers operate it with AA, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic flying to Heathrow along with Norse flying to Gatwick. BA also holds a special place in MIA spotters hearts since they so far are the only airline operating the jumbo Airbus A380 here on a regular basis, Lufthansa and Air France flew them here from Munich, Germany 🇩🇪 and Paris-CDG, France 🇫🇷 pre pandemic before the latter retired then and the former switched to the Airbus A340 and eventually A350.
MIA is also unsurprisingly the US airport most connected to Latin America because of the extreme close proximity. Most places here have SPANISH as the main language rather than English in fact a friend of mine from the west coast stayed the night here before catching a cruise at he went to a Mexican restaurant and they ONLY spoke Spanish there. MIA along with JFK, LAX or even SFO have carriers that one of these airports is their only US destination. For MIA it’s Aerolíneas Argentinas and Boliviana de Aviación and here is the latter in its Airbus A330-300 heading down to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia! 🇧🇴
Wrapping the night off, I was patiently waiting for this unique flight to come by, American Airlines flight 989 a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flying from Miami 🏝️😎 down to Montevideo, Uruguay 🇺🇾 this winter seasonal and 3 times weekly service is the ONLY connection between the 2 countries nonstop and the fact that this flight doesn’t run year round interests me a lot and glad to have this special service back so much to the point that I’m going to Uruguay 🇺🇾 next February and will be flying on this route so that’s something to look forward to! That will be for last nights spotting session at Miami International Airport stay tuned for my trip up to Canada 🇨🇦 for this winter as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky! 😉👋
