Friday Night Flight: El Dorado @ SKBO - 080600ZNOV19

Join us for this week's FNF!
-----

Welcome to this week’s Friday Night Flight! This week South America is featured, with Bogota being the hub. The area is surrounded by gorgeous scenery, with a varied and diverse topography. The airport itself is over 8000ft above MSL. Make sure you adjust appropriately!

ATC will be open in airports flown to by LATAM and Avianca, amongst others. This creates an amazing route network for you to fly to! Why not check out Cusco [SPZO], once the capital of the Inca Empire? Established routes this week will be outbound from all these ATC opened airports, but feel free to fly the reverse!

In what year did SKBO first surpass 3 million passengers?

  • 18 BC
  • 1991

This sounds fun! Could someone please give me a little more information on what a Friday Night Flight is, and how to do it? Thanks!

Amazing FNF Misha! I can’t wait to fly tomorrow!

Bogota is a beautiful area to fly at!

If you’re looking for a challenge, I recommend flying down to Cusco and try landing using the realistic approach. It’s so much fun!

18BC was the year when the Colombians built an airport that surpassed 3 million passengers. It came before more than 1000 years before Wright Brothers built its first airplane, proving that the Colombians have mastered flying before the Europeans.

This is my favorite FNF. Ever. You can’t change my mind.

Misha, I love you forever. Avianca Virtual will be out in full force tomorrow.

What is the speed restriction around the airport if no approach is active?

I wasn’t sure when SKBO surpassed 3 million passengers, so I consulted trusty Wikipedia. Got my answer right away!

If no approach is active then it would be 250kts below 10,000 feet. Make sure you adjust your speed accordingly to follow traffic if unicom is active.

yay, South America Action… awesome Region to fly in… Great Choice, Misha <3

there are specific SIDs and STARs y’all need to follow or else you’ll fly into a mountain
