Friday Night Flight: Across the Pond @ KJFK/EGLL - 010600ZNOV19

Join us for this week's FNF!

We’ve enjoyed our tour of Asia over the last few weeks, but it’s time to turn back to a very popular choice for this week’s Friday Night Flight! For those who enjoy the more adventurous ones, fear not, there are several in-store over the final few months of 2019!

This week we host a huge across the pond event, with airports open in the UK and east-coast USA! Traffic will be busy, so make sure you plan your flight well, but expect delays! The Atlantic crossing is one of the most flown agglomeration of routes in the world, so we expect everyone to be out in force!

Heathrow and New York JFK will be the bases for this week, with Boston, Washington and Manchester operating as the other hub airports. A small selection of other airports will also be open at IFATC discretion.

Simulated Atlantic crossing tracks are also used this week. You can find the routes that include them below in the established routes, so you can add them to any flight plan you may have too.

How many hours did BA aircraft spend in the sky between LHR and JFK in mid-2017 to mid-2018?

  • 32,988
  • 42,117

It’s not a JFK specific FNF. The main aspect is the cross Atlantic flying!

Great FNF. Not a fan of long hall My phone might explode so I will not be participating. Plus, I have other things. Soulds like a blast and might come in from somewhere else. Possibly. Anyway have a good FNF everyone going for it!

We only have 2 months left, not a few.

But anyway, nice classic FNF - might do the classic KJFK-EGLL in the classic BA 747!

Timely, was planning a flight across the pond! Nice!

Are usage of the tracks required? Will be be required to maintain a set speed for seperation? Can someone be mod ghosted for flying through another plane over the Atlantic?
And where are the exact track entry/exit points?

Great FNF! I’ve been waiting for one of these for a while. Also a question @MishaCamp, so when you put overflow airports, etc KPIT, will they be featured? Because PIT is my home airport and I may do PIT-LHR if it has ATC. Can’t wait for this 😊

IFATC is under instruction to only open them when the other airports are fully staffed, so it depends on how busy it is!

Ok, I’ll probably do the classic JFK-LHR then! Thanks Misha!

Not a fan of these 2 airports, they are featured constantly…

Unfortunately, my school doesn’t last long enough to do KJFK-EGLL and there’s not enough time after school, I guess I’ll just have to do a short haul :(

Gotta give the beasts their fare share of attention! Could be a challenge these two airports but it’s gonna be fun!!
