Frankfurt International EDDF / FRA in a nutshell


Frankfurt International is the busiest airport worldwide based on passenger throughput per square meter.

Beside that it is the Main Base of Lufthansa with a hugh Maintenance area including a A380 capable Maintenance Hangar and a large LH exclusive cargo Terminal.


Flight movements
Runways 07L/25R where for landing only
Runway 18 is takeoff only
Runway 36 is not used at all.

It‘s usual operation direction is east to west. Following this the runways 25 and 18 are used, with 25C and 18 for departures and 25L and 25R for arrivals.


Ground movements
The usual ground flow is with the taxiways close to the Stands used agains landing direction and the ones close north to the runways in landing direction.


Major areas
There are three major Terminals, two Cargo Areas, two GA Aprons, and two Maintenance areas.

Terminal 1 has Stand names starting with A B and C, where A is used by Lufthansa exclusively.
Terminal 2 has Stand names starting with D and E
Terminal 3 has Stand names starting with G H J K. It is not fully operational yet (2024)

All remote Stands have Stand names starting with V. Many of the remote Stands are pass through stands. They where operated from north to south, meaning moving in from taxiway November and leaving to taxiway Lima.

Cargo Stands have names starting with F for Freight in the north and stand names starting with S in the south. The eastern part of the north Cargo is Lufthansa Cargo exclusive.

The GAT has stand names with S like the adjacent south cargo. The GA remote stands start with V like all remote stands.
