I’ve made a post about this before I think and I apologize about making another but idk if I explained it well on the last.
But basically I’m having a problem with frames basically at busy airport where there are lots of people.
It loads in other players and every time it does my frames drop over and over and sometimes drop to single digits to where my whole screen is frozen sometimes happening right on touchdown which messes me up a lot.
Someone on my last post suggested turning down how many aircraft I see I turned it down to lowest and it still happened just not as severe. I’ve tried turning graphics all the way down that hasn’t helped I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled hasn’t helped I’ve cleared cache I really don’t know what else to do.
I don’t really want to say it’s my iPad cause literally just picked it up from Apple Store a month ago so still pretty new.
I did test to see if this happened on my phone I couldn’t rlly get it to but idk I feel like this is just a me problem but don’t know what the problem is.
Do you have your plane count set to ‘Very High’? That could be contributing to the lag you’re experiencing. Additionally, heavy airport density and busy traffic can sometimes cause frame drops. Try adjusting those settings to see if it helps improve performance!
That’s the thing though I’ve always had it set to very high never changed never had problems like this till recently and I turned it to the lowest to see if that would help and it didn’t so idk.
i have the same device as you do, and i have the plane limit at very high, and i never had a problem, so chnging this isnt a solution. Maybe it will help, but thats not the issue. Try checking ho much free space you have?
For those of you who don’t have any issues with your iPad Gen 10’s (@oskar_Pawlus, @sxtire etc)
Do you have airplane names and boxes on or off? Other graphics settings?
Good afternoon/morning/evening 👋🙂. I was just about to make a support topic about this and then I saw this one. So I thought I’d reply here with my questions and concerns rather than creating a new topic. I’ve had the same questions on my mind. I’m using the iPad Air 2024 with the M2 chip and 9 core GPU - iPad OS 18.1 . I also have some occasional microfreezes/hiccups when moving the camera or when taxiing etc.
First of all may I ask, is there a big difference between 8 core, 9 core and 10 core GPU ? So the 9 core GPU that I have, is it strong/powerful enough ? I actually wanted to get the iPad pro 2024 with the M4 chip but only when my device arrived at the store I realised it was the iPad air M2.
My settings are as follows:
3D object density and texture set to medium, rendering resolution and rendering quality set to low
Airplane count set to low
Ant-aliasing off
Frames set to 30fps (the recommended setting)
Airplane names and boxes on
I always clear the scenery cache before every flight
I always delete all my replays
I got plenty of device storage
I did a lot of iPad frame boost settings on my device (will post some YouTube videos shortly to help ou other IFC members 🙂)
Game mode always turns on automatically when launching IF
So all these settings and I still get occasional microfreezes/hiccups
So my main question is: is this something I should worry about or is it normal for these occasional microfreezes/hiccups to happen ?
Thank you I haven’t changed anything recently but it seems to be better I still get small small hiccups in busy ares but not as severe as before which I haven’t changed anything so that’s funny I guess.
