Device: iPad Air M1 2022 Operating system: iPadOS 27
I’ve noticed that after about 3 hours of flying, my fps drops to about 25fps from 30, a noticeable difference. Has anyone else had this issue? Before the latest update, on beta, I was able to fly for up to 10 hours total without any fps drop whatsoever
Have the same problem with my iPhone 16 Pro. I guess it’s a cooling problem with the device, so that the safety stuff inside kicks in with slower frame rate. Apple’s newer devices have a cooling chamber for a reason.
During my last long haul, my phone eventually refused to charge due to overheating. And if this is a heating problem, I hope IF developers with their IT engineers don’t degrade something with the scenic terrain, weather, etc., because it’s so good as it is. I would rather do shorter flights and put the device in a refrigerator if I have to relocate a plane somewhere far away and wait until the new iPad Pros have gotten a cooling chamber.
Had my session active for approx 4hr now. Pre 26.4, using the beta and normal release, I would be able to hit 60fps easily at this point. Currently my game is running at 22fps, which is pretty much unplayable. I don’t see how such a drastic change has happened.
It’s very frustrating. Seemly a lot of people have reported better performance on their devices, as for my one seems to be much worse. And a few other people to.
I’ve noticed an fps drop on my iPad pro m4 as well. Normally can start and end the flight with full frames, but in between like on climb or descent the frames seem to drop.
I noticed that the fps drop was most likely in relation to the iPad warming up, and naturally slowing things to prevent over heating. I realised it was getting super hot as I had it laying flat on a table, with no air flow to help cool it down. I’ve kept it raised slightly, with about 5cm of space underneath it, and it’s not warming up at all. I’ve not noticed any drop in frame rate and I’m 2 hours into my flight.
Yeah that’s probably it. I use third party apps too like Ifassistant or flightannounce, which makes the iPad even hotter since they are constantly checking for inputs/changes.
Well all we can hope that the performance is better in the update. Sure look there’s a few people that can’t open the app and are experiencing crashes.
Yup it’s a shame, it’s weird how it doesn’t seem to be heat related for me though. Even weirder that people are experiencing the same issue with iPad’s as powerful as the m4
