Is there an app I can use to see how firm or smooth my landing is?
You mean, IRL? Because in IF it’s below the altitude tape.

There was IFOperations but I haven’t been able to get it to work for some time.
Ahh, yes you can’t exactly tell what it is. But 2 things:
Screenshot or look at the number and listen to the wheels touching the ground and/or once the FPV disappears, immediately look at the number or take a screenshot.
It’s been broken for a long time (I believe since Infinite Flight upgraded their APIs).

Yes, because I can perfectly time a screenshot (while landing properly) and my iPad will take it at the exact moment of touchdown…
I hope the IFOps developer fixes it; it was so cool to see all the insights in one document
Haha, I know what you mean, but currently, it is what it is.
Oh, and btw, you don’t do it while landing, you do it on replays. But still, it’s tricky.

Just look at how far your FPV is from the horizon just as your main wheels touch.
If it just moves to the horizon as your wheels touch, that is zero fpm.
How much bounce you get is exactly related to the FPV to horizon distance.
Whenever you nail it on the horizon, you will never get any bounce.
