For which airlines should I aim to work?

Ok, I just watch a video on the shortage of pilots in the World. It had some numbers that interest me, like how first officers in China if foreigners can earn up to half a million, but have tough working conditions. I’m about to enter high school and know I want to be a pilot, but I need to know who I want to contact. Do you have any Idea, pilot wise, what the best balance of pay and sleep is for which airlines. Thanks.

First you need to plan about the training routes you gonna take. Thats what you should be worried about more. Then you can look at the job opportunity.

I know I’ll go through a collage and the tour/ skydiving company. From there, I’ll get 1500 hours and go to one of seggusted airlines.

Sorta unrelated, but was it Wendover Productions video?

I think things bit diff then in the old days…heard some airlines have strict contract and pay very low salary to train you for type ratings. I think military might give better option. Just saying.

Yes, yes it was

Love that channel and his vids!

Also, here is a link from a pilot who has had an interesting career with a few airlines! Might help you

But only about 40% of pilots or less get to fly real planes, the rest get stuck with drones

Thanks, great info even if not in format

Make sure to have a backup plan or ‘Plan B’. If you are just entering high school, you will probably have at least seven or more years before you can apply for any airline. Within that time, the shortage of pilots may not even exist, especially considering China willing to pay half a million, and Emirates willing to pay 300k annually.

I would say FedEx. FedEx has some of the best salaries, work conditions, and retirement in the business. There hours aren’t great but that’s a small price to pay. They also only have one class of narrow body in there entire fleet, the rest is ALL wide body, meaning deadheads, and better pay.

True, but I’m going to a collage prep school so they offer me a counselor that can get in contact with recruiters from many airlines so I can build interest.

What’s the specifics of the starting salary, because I wouldn’t have to deal with Passengers then 😂.

I’m not exactly sure, my guess is around 76-80k first year for a narrow body and around 95-100k second year, and then third year you jump up to around 150k. You should look it up, it all really depends on what plane, and where ch lines you hold, or how much you fly each month.

Yeah, but passenger can pay half a million, so it always depends. Thanks for your input though

There’s no airline that has good hours, benefits, and retirement that will offer you half a million your first year.
