Flying with Gordon Pt. 69

Captain J. Gordon

Today, I finally had the opportunity to redo part 69 of the series. During the original episode, I glitched out and would not have been able to maintain my schedule. So, I decided to just redo both episodes (69 and 70). With that being said, i flew from Atlanta to San Francisco!! This flight was extremely turbulent. There was maybe 30 minutes of the flight that was pretty smooth, other than that, turbulence the whole flight. The highest speed for the winds touched almost 140kts 🤯 I’m sure you all know what that’s like 😂 Luckily, my landing made up for the turbulent flight 😎👨🏾‍✈️ I greased the landing this afternoon and I was able to get us to the gate about 20 minutes early!! I say all that to say, this was a very good flight. I’m looking forward to all of the legs in my flights to come!! Y’all be safe and I’ll see you in the skies 😊

  1. LiveFlight tracking

  1. Preparing for departure at ATL’s gate A31

  1. Rotating off of runway 8R. Atlanta has been gloomy all week 🥺

  1. Cruising North of Memphis, TN. Very busy airspace today!! Views from first class

  1. Flying south of Wichita, Kansas!! Views from main cabin

  1. Flying over some of Colorado’s mountains 🤩 Main cabin views

  1. Final approach onto SFO’s runway 28R

  1. Slowing down on runway 28R after a VERY greasy landing by yours truly 😎👨🏾‍✈️

  1. Shutting down the engines at SFO’s gate C7 after the long and turbulent flight from Atlanta

  1. LiveFlight approach. We used the DYMAND5 approach. (I think that’s how you spell it 😬😂)

Most definitely!! The best views are once you get near the mountains 🤩

What a shame 😕. Though I’m glad to see “Flying with Gordon” again!

Nice photos! Aren’t those mountains over Colorado great?

Nice pics mate!!!
I’m glad to hear you greased the Boeing 737-900ER because apparently people say it’s hard to land, but it’s my favorite 737 variant to fly and I find it easy to grease:)

Nice pics again and Take care!

Thank you!! And yes, the 737 is pretty easy to grease. A new trick that I learned is to bring back the throttles at around 10ft instead of 20 or 30ft. When you being them back closer to touchdown, the plane doesn’t necessarily drop out of the sky (if that makes sense)

Oh yea I get what you mean🤣🤣
I fly to the B737 & A320 variants mostly and I’m telling you it took a while to realize a B737 does NOT fly the same as an A320.
Also I notice landings are a lot better if you use Flaps 30 rather than 40

The A320 will float waaaayyy more than the 737 will. The 737 has its days when it wants to float, but the A320 never fails to float 😂 As far as the flaps, I totally agree. Using flaps 40° requires more down trim and a little more pressure on the controls. I usually only do flaps 40° on short runways or if I have to exit the runway quickly

Is this the training server? I think I have asked before but I forgot. I live in Atlanta, so I fly out of it irl and in IF all the time
