When I first started playing IF, without a subscription, I would fly the KLAX - KSFO route all the time at like 5k altitude and 500 IAS in a 747.

Queens is one of the 5 boroughs of NYC. Long Island is just outside of city limits in Nassau/Suffolk county.
Queens is geographically Long Island, as acknowledged by the State of New York.
Yeah but LI isn’t a city/county. It’s an area. It’s like saying Eagle Airport is in the rocky mountains. (bad analogy but close enough)
