I’m always scared my device will go on fire…
It won’t…don’t worry…
Yeah but there have been stories of iPads charging overnight going on fire.
Well I am going to attempt to do an overnight flight tonight. Tomorrow I will tell you guys how it went!
My iPad is designed so once it gets to 100% it will automatically stop charging.
Yes…that has happened…but in nearly 3 years of global and doing daily overnighters I have never had device issues…
Yes but what when it drops below that…
Well it charges again
Oh ok, I see, but having something that could go up on flames on my desk when I’m sleeping isn’t something I exactly want…
Actually the main thing to note on long hauls especially, is to go onto Settings > General > Hide Status Bar.
I do this every flight until about < 300nm out, because or the bright white that is constantly on the screen, it can easily burn the screen over time.
You can do a long haul overnight. Just make sure you get enough sleep. At least 7 hours. Sleeps is more important than IF although IF is more fun:)
I don’t set alarms, my body clock wakes me up :) usually I try to find a longer flight so I don’t overshoot, though I have done that many times 😂
Bruh just set an alarm and if you wake up before it you can turn it off😂
Hi !
When flying overnight you should expect to be fine! When flying overnight make sure when climbing, When you pass 10,000ft MSL you can go over 250 I believe. When you do you should be alert to your flight when climbing. When climbing on expert if ATC are present( I believe ) you can get a violation for Unresponsive while climbing . When you wake up. If timing is perfect you can land.
Happy flying!
I will leave my flight after I’m at my cruising.
in the bottom bar add the vnav feature, this will tell you when your TOD is and you should set a timer for 20-30 min before, Also be sure to choose a route that is 10-15 hours. Keep in mind you usually get 2 hours of sleep less then the flight time.
Would RKSI-KLAX be good?
Usually when I do an overnight flight, or a flight that lands in the middle of the night, I set two or three alarms:
Alarm 1- systems check, and adjust next alarm for winds and a modified ETD
Alarm 2- systems check, and adjust next alarm further for winds and a modified ETD
Alarm 3- final alarm, wake up for arrival.
I don’t usually do this for true “overnight” flights, but I usually do a lot of flights that land at like 1,2,or 3 am, so this is when I would implement this
Sounds like a good route.
So when I fly long hauls I usually make sure to check my flight after I reached my cruising altitude for about 10 mins and then i make sure my phone is on charge and that al the ticks are green and then I make sure my speed and altitude and my LNAV is set on the right path and then I put my brightness on low and I set my alarm about an hour before I land the next day but I like to take off at 11 o clock at night gives me more time to sleep and then you have a safe landing the next day👍🛫🛬 safe flying.
