Flying to Every 4C-4F Airport in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau - My Infinite Flight Journey
Hey Infinite Flight Community!
I’m embarking on an epic challenge to fly to every airport in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau classified as 4C to 4F in Infinite Flight. These airports can handle a range of aircraft, from regional jets to the largest wide-bodies, and I’m excited to explore this vast aviation network. Below is the list of airports I plan to visit, categorized by their 4C to 4F ratings, with China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau listed separately. I’ve added a rules section to keep things realistic and a progress tracker to share my journey—join me on this adventure!
Why This Challenge?
This region’s airports are diverse, from bustling international hubs like Beijing Capital (ZBAA) and Hong Kong International (VHHH) to regional gems tucked in scenic provinces like Jiuzhaigou (ZUJZ). Flying to each 4C-4F airport will let me experience everything from short regional hops to long-haul operations, all while soaking in Infinite Flight’s stunning visuals. I’m sticking to realistic flights to make it authentic, and I’ll need to land at each airport to check it off my list. Another reason for this ambitious jouney is to bring more light into the world of aviation in China.
Rules of the Challenge
To keep this challenge immersive and true to Infinite Flight’s spirit, I’ve set the following rules:
- Realistic Flights Only: All flights must follow real-world routes, schedules, or plausible operations for the airport and aircraft. This means using appropriate aircraft for each airport’s classification (e.g., no A380s at 4C airports like Lijiang) and following realistic weather, time of day, and ATC procedures when available.
- Landings Count, Takeoffs Don’t: For an airport to count toward my progress, I must successfully land there in Infinite Flight. A takeoff alone doesn’t count—whether it’s a full stop or a touch-and-go, the landing is what matters.
- No Cheating: I’ll fly each leg manually or with realistic autopilot settings, no skipping or fast-forwarding flights. Every airport must be reached through a proper flight from another airport on the list or a realistic departure point. A realistic flightplan generated by Simbrief must be used for the flight to count.
- Documented Flights: I’ll log each completed landing with a screenshot or flight details (route, aircraft, date) to share in the progress section below.

represents the flight in currently in progress. - Classification Source: The 4C-4F ratings are based on runway length and aircraft handling capabilities (e.g., 4F airports can accommodate aircraft with wingspans up to 80m, like the A380). I’ve compiled this list using web data on airports in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, focusing on those likely modeled in Infinite Flight.
- Mainland China Scope: The mainland China list excludes Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, as they have distinct aviation authorities (Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department, Macau’s Civil Aviation Authority, and Taiwan’s Aviation Safety Council).
- Taiwan Airports: Taiwan’s airports range from the major hub at Taoyuan (RCTP) to smaller regional fields like Matsu Nangan (RCFG). Some, like Pingtung (RCSQ), may have dual civil-military use, but I’ve included them if they serve scheduled flights.
- Hong Kong and Macau: Hong Kong has only one major airport (VHHH), a 4F hub, while Macau’s single airport (VMMC) is rated 4E, suitable for aircraft like the A330.
- Aircraft Choices: I’ll match planes to airport capabilities—think CRJ-700s for 4C airports like Lijiang (ZPLJ) or Matsu Nangan (RCFG), A320s for 4D like Dalian (ZYTL) or Taichung (RCMQ), and A350s or 777s for 4F hubs like Shanghai Pudong (ZSPD) or Hong Kong (VHHH). Aircraft of the same family may be used on the route if the IRL aircraft doesn’t exist or have a livery (e.g. A333 for A332 or CSN 788 in replacement for their 789),
