Flying for Fun vs getting PPL

Hi everyone,
Recently, I flew out of Concord Municipal Airport in Concord, NH.
My goal is to obtain a PPL, but the instructor who was with me told me people have been students for a long time because they just like to fly as a hobby of some sorts, and some get their PPL’s.

I’ve meet student pilots, and they all are very encouraging, I even showed one of them infinite flight. They said flying is very fun.

I am thinking of going up again (yes, I really am considering it) every time I get paid from work.

My question is: Is it worth to get a PPL? Or is it worth to just fly for fun?

What do you want to be when you grow up? If it is a pilot, the you should. If not, you can still fly for fun a build up hours.

I can’t really be a commercial pilot, I’d love to obtain a PPL so I can get my own 172 and fly wherever I desire

Yea, you could fly yourself to LA! It gives you freedom. Also you don’t have to go through security when you fly privately!

If you fly enough for fun, why wouldn’t you take the exams for the PPL?

If that’s what you want then you should do it. There can be too many things better than hopping in your own airplane and going wherever you want!

Where can I get a medical? I need to pass a medical before I can get a PPL. I might pass with restrictions, since I can only see out of one eye good (one has a lens and the other doesn’t)

Straight from the FAA

(Get a checkup from a designated doctor.)

It’s worth getting a ppl because you can fly people places whether in your plane or someone else or a rented plane in vfr or get qualified for ifr and open your Possibilities.

PPL is only worth it if you really enjoy it. If your goal is to fly other people and you don’t enjoy flying yourself then maybe people shouldn’t get their ppl

If you want to fly for fun get your cert so you can take people up!
Thats always fun to do!

I want to be a corporate pilot or an airline pilot and am two years away from being eligible to obtain my PPL.

No matter the mission, a PPL is the way to go. It opens up an array of things u can do and who knows… maybe it’ll lead you to become an airline pilot or a corporate pilot

Welcome!
I know a few guys out in Alaska who own cubs and stuff, they just get a 90 day review then go back to their daily lives but they have been doing it for years
