Fly Emirates

Why do Emirates sponsor so much. They are the only airline I’ve seen to sponsor nearly everything. Examples: RWC, F1 lots of football/soccer teams

For money. Simple as that.

Yes. But that amount of sponsorship surely costs a lot of money to produce

But the revenew they receive for sponsoring surpasses by far the costs. They’re also funded by their governments.

I don’t know where you got that from, EK is not funded by the government of Dubai, they actually paid out dividends to the Dubai government last year. EK’s PR expense can easily be absorbed in their advertising budget,

I read that on an article regarding the legal battle between US and Gulf carriers.

Yeah, that was an interesting debate. There was an white paper published by EK responding to the allegations made by the US carriers. Also important to note that EK’s books are looked over by a well respected accounting firm each year, so they’re actually making money.

It’s fascinating reading, it is about a few hundred pages though.

You need to remember the Government own the Airline so yes it will always be better off but still the US carriers use that as a excuse for their old planes and failing service

Because it works, and it’s genius. Short and to the point.

Simple message: Fly Emirates. Let’s just say some people would take that as an instruction and simply Google Emirates when booking their flights, and not even bother trying comparison sites.

And sponsoring sports is an expensive, but reliable way to get the message across.

The UAE is oil rich but the airline still has to pay the same amount for oil as all the other carriers that fly out of Dubai. The reason why EK is so much more successful is because they offer cheaper flights with a better product. People forget that they were a very small airline until around 2005 when they began investing money into expanding their fleet with quality aircraft. Once that started happening the revenue started coming in. Not to mention around that time the demand for international flights from India started exploding and EK was in the best place to capitalize on it due to the uneasy services that Indian airlines were going through. And finally Dubai becoming a tourist destination really helped create demand for direct flights to Dubai, EK of which being the only airline able to provide global coverage.

+1 EK are legitimate when it comes to profit and growth. Being in an almost perfect geographical location helps a lot too.

Qatar Airways and Etihad used to be quite small, and once upon a time Gulf Air were quite dominant in the region.

They are awesome

I agree they are

Because they can and it gets people like ourselves talking on a public site, which in turn exposes them to even more people![quote=“Cessna_Citation_X, post:12, topic:55405”]

Much like Qatar in many instances. You should have seen some of the discounted fares EK had from JFK a couple weeks ago.
