Has anyone ever flown over their arrival airport on accident? If so what did you do?
I did yesterday night
KEWR TO EDDM
landed in Paris CDG
Speedbrakes, throttle to 0 and descend as fast as possible without getting a vio. Or you could do 360s and descend normally.
“Sigh…” (Pushes end flight)
I would do that
i hate that feeling
I do that all the time, what I hate the most if when I set my alarm to wake up for descent and then I end up FL320 at 6 nm out. I was doing a 15 hour flight, so hitting the “end session” button kind of ruined my first ever long haul. At least I still got credit for the flight time, so it wasn’t that bad lol :)
I’ve done it countless times and usually I just fly back and land
But if it is too far then I have no choice but to end it
This is EXACTLY what I do in this scenario 😂
Humans are humans 👀
Many times, you know how? Oversleeping and forgetting to land. But, I just end it, wether or not I’m circling over the airport or if I’m just going in a straight line onwards from the airport
Usually I’ll land it somehow, unless I’m way over then I probably just end flight
That happened me a few times, what I do is start descending while I fly to the start of the STAR.
Once I was doing the flight LSZH - CYVR and I got stuck THE WHOLE NIGHT on 2 waypoints over the UK -_- guess what happened when I got up, exactly; BOOM
The amount of people I’ve noticed with a flight plan at the airport I’m arriving at, and they’re flying over it at like FL350 is unreal. Can’t help but chuckle 😂
People often sleep too much when flying a night haul (like ZSPD-LSZH) lol. I have PAST TOD for many times. I remember that I past TOD when flying KLAX-RJTT , and then I fly to YSSY.
😅 I was flying the 748 from somewhere in the US to Incheon, Seoul. I slept mid way and and when I woke up, I was over RKSI and LNAV had disabled because there were no waypoints after RKSI. Thank god I didn’t enable VNAV cause then I would have gotten speed violations😅
This happened long time ago.
Hold current heading. Clear flight plan. Create new flight plan back to the dest.
story of my life
I used to do that all the time before the 777s update added the Vnav SIDS and STARS to the sim because I do a lot of long hauls at night so I would sleep then wake up but would be to tired because I would have to constantly calculate the decent and it was annoying to the point where half the time I would just be to tired and not wake up on time because i had to keep settings up alarms and changing them and after I would be to late I would just close the app and try the flight again another time
yawns here we go again…
Turns AP off and starts descending from 35,000ft manually
