Flights over Russia

Could possible flights over Russia ever re-open for commercial or cargo use. I have done multiple east Asia to Europe flights and it has taken quite a bit of time to get over there because of closed airspace. Usually closed airspaces like Syria is not a problem because it is not a large country but something like Russia could genuinely delay a flight by more than 5 hours. Just wondering :+1:

Here are some flights that I have done around Russian Airspace

ZSPD–>KIAH A350-900 (~16 hours)

ZGSZ–>KDFW A350-900 (~16 hours

RKSI–>LFPG 777-300er (~14 hours)

RJTT–>EGLL 777-300er (~14 hours)

KSFO–>ZBAD A350-900 (~15 hours)

Infinite flight or real world

In fact, they have been open all the time.

After search, you will find:

Shanghai - London
Air China A350-900 12h15m
China Eastern B777-300 12h25m
but,
British Airways B787-9 14h30m

Participating in Virgin Atlantic also has this route, but it was canceled because of Russia’s problems.

Shanghai - Helsinki
Junyao Air B787-9 9h30m
Finnair A350-900 14h30m💀

Well, if you are following real world procedures and restrictions, it’ll probably be some time before Russian airspace opens back up for regular civilian usage, at the very least until active combat is ceased, but probably a while after because of politics. However, IF is a simulator, and while some people might give you grief for flying through it, it isn’t wrong or against the rules to do so

Chinese airlines fly over Russia all the time unless I’m missing something here.

Few typical Emirates flights also use this route to Stockholm and Oslo, and all the us bound flights as well Qatar airways also use them. Not currently as iran airspace is closed but once they’re reopened it will be back.

EU/NATO airlines are banned from using Russian airspace, which is why you’ll still see airlines such as Emirates, Air China and Air India use the airspace. (Real World)

In Infinite Flight, you can continue to use the Russian Airspace, as we fortunately haven’t got any politics involved.

Cathay Pacific also uses Russian airspace for flights to the East Coast
