They plan flights like this. If there are extra packages/maintenance issues at Albuquerque or Dallas, this plane is likely flying half full and can help out.

The mighty Delta 747 blasting out of KSAN to go to Arizona
That’s a pretty long routing for what looks like a short hop! FedEx probably had to drop some cargo off at New Mexico so they flew nearby and dropped it down xD
Sadly it looks like it’s gonna get turned into just another “dead aircraft” RIP Delta 747.
Just got the same notification on Flightradar24, it will be great to actually see a real life picture of it once it’s in service
