Yea, they do that a lot of the time. Delays are a big part of JFK traffic and they use the inactive runways as taxiways. If you listen to JFK ATC during busy times you’ll hear ground ask if a plane’s gate is ready, if not they go a sit. It’s really bad at JFK during peak season and busy hours. Once I’d just landed from a 9 hour flight from Frankfurt Am Main and they had us sit for over an hour on the runway.
Ah, thanks so much for the info! Didn’t know that ![]()
DHL Boeing 757-200F D-ALEU coming from marseille had to divert to Hannover airport after getting damaged by a mid air collision with a drone while going around in Leipzig. The south runway has been closed.
Edit: The drone was apparently equipped with explosive and was probably designed to blow up on impact with the aircraft. A further drone with the same unknown powder has been found near an AN-124 in the cargo area.
that’s insane??? well i’m glad everyone is safe
Maybe it’s a sign of 21Savage releasing a new album? I mean I know it’s not but that would be cool!
wait… WHAT!?!?
A Pilatus PC-12 having the same registration as a Trans World 747-100 that was built in 1970 and delivered to Iberia as EC-BRP. Later scrapped at Marana in 1999.
There is currently an equipment outage at Minneapolis ARTCC. Delays are pushing over 200 minutes for affected traffic, and anything go to/from and through are being rerouted.

Supposedly, it’s related to a fiber optic connection issue. Quite a messy situation - lots of flights ended up diverting.
Volcanoes too? I get the FIR’s and tracks but that’s another level of dedication.

Haha, better to be prepared I guess!
@Mort That would probably explain the issue, I could only imagine the headaches it is causing.
those JFK controllers work crazy well. LiveATC rn is probably booming.
Ive also heard those controllers are very, well, new yorkers.
