1) Background to the photos
Yesterday I did one of the flights I was looking forward most since we have received the Edelweiss Air livery. Back in 2011 I have flown with the meanwhile retired A330-200 of Edelweiss Air from Zurich to Fuerteventura. Fuerteventura is one of my favorite summer destinations, and I fly there quite frequently in IF. And finally I could do this flight with one of my favorite liveries.

We start our journey at gate B43, part of the schengen/non-schengen dock B at LSZH.
And after a quick preparation we depart on RWY28 and begin our journey. Due to the low weight a departure on Zurichs shortest runway is not a problem at all, my rotation was a bit flat though…
During the climb out on the VEBIT3W departure we have a beautiful view on the Swiss alps.
We’ve reached our cruising ALT of FL360, and not much later we cross the French coast right above Nice.
The route continues along the coast of Spain until we reach Gibraltar.
We continue our trip above Morocco, and leave the mainland of Africa towards the Canary Islands.
Cabin crew, landing in 10 minutes.
Since I like handflying my aircraft I opted for a visual approach RWY01, the bank angle was rather steep though as we turn on a 5 miles final. EDW212 Heavy, wind 050 degrees 20 knots, RWY01 cleared to land.
I not only like to handfly my aircraft to the ground, I also fly without HUD since IF equip their aircraft with live cockpit. Maintaining centerline is the most challenging aspect while landing an aircraft like this as far as I can tell. Also here I was slightly off, but could correct it pretty well after touchdown. Vertical speed -160ft at TD was totally fine as well, so we have a happy pilot here :)
We complete our journey with a fellow waiting for us at the terminal.
And here we are, thank you for flying with me today and happy landings!
