Background: ATC (approach) exist, and the aircraft is on downwind. ATC instructs me to turn to heading 250 to enter the left base.
Issue: after finishing the instructions, ATC does not give me the next turn instruction to fly to final approach, how should I communicate with ATC? Should I request further instructions or continue flying according to the flight plan?
In this instance, I’d suggest to fly the given heading. Odds are that ATC will realize their mistake in not vectoring you onto final and fix that asap. Not worth the risk of a violation when it comes to deviating from ATC instructions.
