When I activate I Trim with a percentage of 5% or higher, both at takeoff and at landing the plane turns me either left or right. Now I wonder is this factor normal or is it due to the side wind? However, through the HUD the wind does not exceed 10 kt. Thank you!
A 10kt crosswind is enough to cause a noticeable yaw to the side when you rotate the nose wheel off the runway. The more up trim you have, the more the nose wheel is ready to come off the runway and be free to yaw from the wind. In a crosswind takeoff it helps to keep down pressure on the nose wheel until you are at rotation speed.
At the time you lift the nose wheel is when you would apply rudder opposite the yaw to keep straight down the runway heading.
So up trim can be fighting against your need to keep the nose wheel firmly down.
