Flash Flight: The Floating City!

Hello! Welcome to another Flash Flight. Today we are off to Venice, commonly known as “The Floating City”. With its winding canals, gorgeous architecture and beautiful bridges, Venice is an incredibly popular destination for travel. Our passengers today are eager to visit Italy to absorb the views, Italian culture and to try delicious types of food on their city break. Let’s go flying!

IFATC will provide service where able, so remember to always be in contact with them if they are open. This includes centre and departure frequencies.

Did you know that Venice is sinking? The city itself is built right on top of a muddy lagoon with inadequate foundations. Over time, the ground water being pumped out from under the city and gradual rise in sea level has resulted in the city slowly sinking.

What rate is Venice sinking at?
  • 3 to 4 mm a year
  • 1 to 2 mm a year
  • 4 to 5 mm a year
  • 0.8 to 1.5 mm a year

The answer will be published once the event has finished!

NOTAM: This flight will be lead by @Dan. As this event is being hosted on the expert server we ask for your full cooperation with IFATC and to follow all expert server rules. This event will not be streamed. Use of SIDs & STARs recommended. Most importantly, have fun!

Oh wow nice😁😁

I can’t join this sadly :(

Unfortunately I can’t join due to the landing time being a bit too close to my dinner time for me to be comfortable I can land in time due to the predicted high amount of traffic on this route.

Congrats to those who voted correctly on the poll! The answer was indeed 1 to 2 mm a year
