First time on the expert server

Congratulations on getting to expert server. I have one suggestion, don’t annoy ATC otherwise you know what will happen. And also follow there instructions.

Meticulously follow the instructions of ATC. They will ghost you in a heartbeat if you don’t. Don’t make double requests while getting ready to land; you get ghosted for that as well.

Here’s a bit of advice:

  • Know your stuff: Go on tutorial forums and videos and fully understand how to use ATC
  • If you don’t know something, ask: IFATC is always more than happy to tell you what the right procedure is, so please ask us questions on what went wrong, or what to do.
  • Start small: Fly into airports that are less busy at first. Controllers are more likely to guide you through your mistakes than ghost you when they have the time to do it.

Adam Macauly, one of the team’s trainers and radar controllers made a handy list of tips to fly in Expert server. I recommend you give it a quick read.

Lastly, if you would like, I could control a session today and have you fly in and out and let you know how to improve. I can give you more leniency and correct any potential mistakes before you do something wrong at a busy airport and get ghosted. PM me if you are interested.

Looking forward to seeing you on the Expert Server skies!
