Fire broke out from Garuda Indonesia A330-300's GPU

The GPU of PK-GPR, one of Garuda’s A330-300 was burnt last Tuesday night. At 11.27 p.m. on Last Tuesday night, the plane’s power unit (genset) went up in flames as ground workers conducted electric charging from a ground power unit (GPU) to Garuda Airbus A330-300 aircraft on the apron of Terminal 3, Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Banten. The GPU unit belongs to Garuda Indonesia subsidiary Gapura Angkasa.

The aircraft was due to operate a flight to Singapore at the next morning, as the result GA has to deployed a replacement aircraft to serve the route at the next morning. None was injured on this incident

That’s good, wonder what caused the power unit to catch fire?

That will buff right on out… but seriously that fire is raging hot from the picture glad they didn’t have it loaded with passengers and glad it didn’t go to the fuel compartment.
