About Polderbaan

Polderbaan is one of the main runways at Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport although being the furthest from the terminals. It is the newest runway of the airport, considered "the fifth runway", even though it is the sixth runway in the airport. This happens because runway 22/04 was built for the small piston engine planes of the past, therefore it is too small for planes from the present like a Boeing 737. Polderbaan is the longest runway of Schiphol, measuring 3.800 meters or 12.467 feet in length and also the widest of all, at 60 meters or 189 feet wide, compared to the other runways that measure around 45 meters or 150 feet of width.

Its operations are a bit confusing due to its location. Being so far away from the terminal would make taxiing to the northern part (runway 18R) too long, so that end of the runway is only used for landings. Because of the same reason, the other end (runway 36L) is only used for takeoffs, and here's the fun part of this event!

Event Information

What would be the purpose of this event if it was a normal Fly-Out? That's why only Porderbaan, or runway 36L, will be used for takeoff! Every single member of this event will have to taxi all the way to Polderbaan to takeoff, so that everyone remembers the importance of that runway which is sometimes forgotten in Infinite Flight just to shave 5-10 minutes of taxiing. Also, if you want to fly a different route from all there, you have to post the route, aircraft and airline you want to use, but it has to be realistic (you can't ask to fly to brussels in an Air Austral A380)

big airport. I wonder by size alone it has to be the biggest? in the eu?. i flew into and out of AMS a few times in real life and its a wonderful airport.

Yeah, it’s one of the biggest. Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Mardid-Barajas are also very large in size.
I also have flown there a few times and it’s a very nice airport (and it has a really good airplane shop). Also I love its terminal and runways layout, definitely one of my favourite airports!
