About: To Commerate the 76th Anniversary of D-Day, we invite all IFC members to represent all forces involved in Operation Overlord on June 06th 1944, to perform a Flypast over the D-DAY Battlefield led by VR-206 Sqn.

To Remember The Fallen of All Sides Involved
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them”

Route & “Normandy Formation” Details:

Formation Departure:
All partaking nations aircraft take off 1400Z from Base aérienne 123 Orléans - Bricy (LFOJ) & form off the coast of Cherbourg.

Formation Route:
Run in over Cherbourg Airport, Sainte-Mère-Église, Carentan, Bayeux, Caen, Bénouville, D-Day Beaches (Sword, Juno, Gold, Omaha, Point Du Hoc & Utah)

Formation then RTB to LFOJ to perform run & break to land.

The Route will fly over D-Day Parachute Drop Zones of the 101st & 82nd Airborne of the US Army


It will also fly over the site of Operation Deadstick, where the British 6th Airborne Division landed assault gliders and captured Pegasus Bridge

FYI it’s going to be difficult to keep all these planes at the same speed because of the variety of aircraft and their range of speeds. The KC-10F cannot go slower than 175kts with full flaps so all aircraft need to be able to match that speed
