Hey all, Hope this message finds you well.
I’m not sure if posts like this are allowed but I’ll continue anyway.
Before I start my feedback, I’d like to tell a bit about myself. My name is Dave, I’ve joined RFS in around mid 2023, But i managed to create over 20 airports, and reworked many. While prioritizing quality. But then i lost interested in around the start of 2024, then came back around mid 2024. But if i’m honest the work RFS did during the times i was absent from the game was quite underwhelming. Sure it was more than infinite flight but barely any of the new things were that good. And honestly this is how it seems to be for RFS entirely. Another thing I’ll point out is how RFS chooses quantity over quality. The way how updates are not that well tested and have some of the biggest bugs to the fanbase is quite shocking to me. To put that into perspective, during the last few months of 2023, there seemed to be a bug that causes your app to freeze. So so so many were being affected yet it didn’t seemed to be fixed until a few months later, the staff choose to open up a form for people to submit info about how this bug occurs. Then it was so called “fixed” but some will still encountering the bugs. Today, im not sure if this bug still persists. This was most likely a RAM/memory issue. And at infinite flight, this new 24.3 update seemed to have some bugs but almost everyday there was a new hotfix fixing many of the issues. And it was not a lie, They’re gone! Thank you IF Staff for this. Appreciate it. TL;DR: RFS seemed to focus more on quantity than quality, and less about bugs, while infinite flight is vise versa of that.
Because of that, i tried out infinite flight. I asked here in this forum whether infinite flight pro is worth it and i read all of the messages. Most of them could have been biased but all of them were pretty positive to say the least. At that time I was a bit skeptical so I continued in RFS. But now I tried out one month and the experience I got was amazing. Sure some aircraft like the C-17 didn’t have a cockpit but that was from 2012. But once i tried out the 777, I feel in love with it. Everything from the cockpit to the APU is in amazing quality. It really felt insane to have this on my phone. And although the scenery wasn’t that “great” it was still pretty good on a mobile device. Things like 3D cities are more challenging optimizing them than developing them, and i think that goes for a lot of things as well. Even the scenery from high up, the way it renders feels realistic. To summarize everything, IF graphics seem to render in a realistic way (but they could have been better), and RFS graphics sure may be better but they feel like a mess.
Anyways, the next thing I’d like to address is the Community, the RFS community seems to only have a discord server, and if I’m honest its not that great. Not everyone there seems to be mature, even people high up. Plus it seems to be not that active. And the way things are marketed on their social media isn’t that great too. This is something IF seems to take the lead by a margain. I went on the IF youtube channel and the way things are shown seemed very appealing to practically everyone. Plus, the amount of things on the social media (Instagram, twitter etc) somehow hooked me into the sim even more. The way how pretty much everything was designed in a appealing way really made me want to play the Flight simulator more. Plus there is a forum that seemed to be very active in engaging, and probably one of the only forums which again… I find very appealing. The UI doesnt remind me of how websites were in the 2010s, great to use. Anyways, to summarize it all, RFS has little to no purpose on the media while IF almost perfects it. The person that is responsible for the media/marketing, your very good at what you’re doing.
To conclude this, I switched from RFS to IF and I’m more happy than ever with my mobile flying. The community seemed great here, welcoming and friendly.
If topics like this are not allowed, well thats unfortunate. Anyways, have a nice one!
