As a long-time user of Infinite Flight and someone deeply engaged in both simulator and real-world aviation operations, I’d like to propose a feature that would significantly elevate realism and user engagement: a partnership or integration with VATSIM (or a similar network) to support live ATC-to-pilot voice communication.
Why This Matters:
Currently, Infinite Flight relies on a text-based and synthetic-voice ATC system that, while functional, lacks the immersion and dynamic complexity of real-world aviation comms. Especially for Pro subscribers and serious sim pilots, this robotic interaction can be limiting — both in realism and in pilot skill development.
By integrating a network like VATSIM, Infinite Flight would:
Enable live, human-controlled ATC across global airspace
Allow users to experience real-world comms procedures, improving phraseology and situational awareness
Unlock more community-driven air traffic events and realism-based flying
How It Could Work:
Optional voice comms mode toggle in settings for Pro users
Join VATSIM-like sessions via IF’s server selection UI
Basic PTT mic input UI overlay (for mobile usability)
Text fallback available for accessibility or those unable to use voice
Community-trained ATC controllers vetted through VATSIM or a similar model
Value to the Platform:
This type of integration would firmly position Infinite Flight alongside desktop sims like X-Plane and MSFS, appealing to an audience that craves realism but operates from mobile or tablet devices. More importantly, it strengthens Infinite Flight’s identity as a true simulator — not just a mobile game.
This could even be packaged as an optional add-on for Pro, helping fund infrastructure and moderation needs, while keeping it premium-quality.
