DC-8 was a narrowbody.
747, DC-10, A300, 1011 are the first gen of widebodies.
767, A310, MD-11, Il-96 are the next gen
Il-86 falls in between IMO

Whilst I love the L1011 I can’t avoid voting for the Ilyushin Il-86
Thinking of UA DC-10 at Sioux City?
Engine fan disk failed and cut thru hydraulic systems rendering the aircraft unflyable.
Trijets get associated with crashes because of the failures of the DC-10, EA 1011, and Swissair crash. It is not that they’re unsafe, but they are inefficient. 727 had three engines per demands that they needed to operate overwater routes. In the 60s, airplanes could not fly wih 2 engines over open water (EA had a huge MIA hub for Caribbean ops) for extended periods of time (ETOPS-60) but still wanted the efficiency that comes with less engines. UA wanted a 4 engine plane for the high altitude Stapleton airport. Thus a compromise was reached on the 3 engines. The 2 engines caught on with the DC-10 because the 747 was too large for many airlines and a middle-sized widebody that needed only 3 engines was deemed useful. Same for the TriStar. MD-11 had 3 engines to lower development costs from DC-10 to MD-11
Cannot speak for the Hawker Siddeley HS-121 Trident, Tu-154.
Swissair 111, who tragically crashed due to a cable fire and the material inside the walls, who then under a test nearly burned down the FAA test facility, burning pretty well and also despite the pilots best offer, was an Md-11, not a dc-10.
That’s he point, the trijets were not the failure of the comapny
I wish I can vote for B747 and A300 but sadly, Only one Choice that can be voted so I Choose A300 😭😭
Lol the next challenge to agree on is liveries ;)
L-1011’s my fav.
Just vote, no need to tell it.
