Fall 2023 Trip to Miami and an Inaugural ITA Airways Trip to Rome - Outbound Pt 1: St. Louis to Miami

Hello folks, welcome to my Fall 2023 trip report going to Miami and to Rome. This trip report covered my flight on American Airlines Flight 2981 from St. Louis to Miami ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ earlier this morning and on Friday, will be covering an Inaugural flight on ITA Airways Flight 631 going from ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Miami to Rome ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น on the Airbus A350-900 with my friend @NonStopPopFM. I had arrived from St. Louis and met @NonStopPopFM that took me to my Grandmaโ€™s house for us to spend two days and two nights before heading off to Rome ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this trip from St. Louis to Miami.

American Airlines Flight 2981 - St. Louis to Miami ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800
Origin: St. Louis Lambert Intโ€™l Airport (KSTL)
Destination: Miami International Airport (KMIA)
Flight Time: 2hrs 45mins
Server: Expert

Good morning folks โ˜€๏ธ at Gate C10 at STL airport, taking this photo before I started boarding this flight down to Miami. Therefore, here I come as I get in line to start boarding the plane to Miami. I wish myself a safe flight to Miami to meet @NonStopPopFM.

As we departed from the gate, we are taxiing to RWY 12L for takeoff as we cross RWY 12R due to the fact that it is closed for a project IRL

And thus, hopping on RWY 12L about to line up in preparation for takeoff ๐Ÿ›ซ out of STL before our takeoff roll

And we are off to the 305 MIAMI ๐Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿฌ. Goodbye 314 St. Louis ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Flying over the Mississippi River as always on our Southeastern flight path to Miami, IRL u would see the Gateway Arch in Downtown St. Louis.

Here we are as we reached cruising altitude of FL370, flying over south of BNA airport which now has 3D buildings as 23.3 rolled out yesterday which was very surprising. Enough with the talking about the 23.3 update and back to the trip. So the AA Flight Attendants started the snacking and beverage service as they handed out either Biscoff Cookies ๐Ÿช or Pretzels ๐Ÿฅจ and a choice of beverages. So I chose the Biscoff cookies with a cup of Sprite ๐Ÿฅค and my own Golden Oreo cookies ๐Ÿช that I bought from Walgreens last night. Btw, I listened to one of my favorite songs ๐ŸŽถ throughout the duration of the flight en route to Miami.

Around two and a half hours later, we began our descent onto MIA as we flew over the Tamiami Trail aka US41. When I saw this, I first thought it was Alligator Alley, but then it was Tamiami Trail US41. Therefore, Alligator Alley is north of US41 belonging to Ft. Lauderdale. Btw, I forgot to mention that there was strong turbulence as we leveled off at FL370 to where the seatbelt sign was left on until the turbulence cleared before the seatbelt sign was turned off. Anyways, seatbelt sign is turned on, indicating that it was time for us to be seated in preparation for landing ๐Ÿ›ฌ at MIA airport

Upon our preparation for landing as mentioned earlier, in this case, we are on short final RWY 9 at MIA airport as it opened on Monday IRL after it was closed due to construction ๐Ÿšง of that Runway to where it leads to planes landing on the RWY 8โ€™s and takeoff RWY 12 and opposite direction RWY 26s for landing and takeoff

And we just landed in Miami as we exited RWY 9 and about to cross RWY 12 before arriving at our gate in this case, Gate D28. Welcome to the 305 MIAMI ๐Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฌ

And here is the photo of my flight after I de boarded at Gate D28 at MIA airport where it will head to Comayagua ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ณ later on today. Once again, hello and welcome to Miami. Time for me to grab breakfast ๐Ÿฅž before heading to baggage claim ๐Ÿ›„ and exiting the airport as @NonStopPopFM is picking me up for us to head to Grandmaโ€™s house for our two day vacation before heading to Rome ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น on Friday. What a great flight I had today.

And that completes my trip from St. Louis to Miami for Part 1. I hope you enjoyed my trip and stay tuned for our trip to Rome on Friday on ITA Airways A350. Have a blessed day and be safe folks.

Awesome shots as always! Do you know if they ever regularly use 12L/30R for departures, or is it just the other parallel and 11/29 they use

Um, 12L is used for takeoffs and RWY 11 is for landings. RWY 30R is for landings and RWY 29 is for takeoffs in STL. Before construction for RWY 12R/30L, it was used for takeoffs and RWY 12L/30L for landings including RWY 11/29. As of now, yeah they are currently using RWY 12L for takeoffs and RWY 11 for landing and 30R for landing and RWY 29 for takeoffs

Roger but Iโ€™m usually not tired till like โ€˜midnight ( 5 hours into flight ) so that means only 4 hours of sleep before FCO but itโ€™s fine!

Well during overnight long haul flights, I sleep while the plane is cruising and set the timer depending on the time left on VNAV before top of descent

I do that as well but only on 7+ hour flights on a 6 hour hop from JFK to LHR, I just stay awake
