FAA Reinstates Mexico to Category 1 Safety Rating

Some great news for the Mexican aviation industry just broke up. After more than two years being downgraded, The FAA has returned AFAC and Mexico to Category 1. Let’s not forget that they did an IASA audit back in June.

This means that airlines can now launch new routes / modify frequencies to the United States, as well as resuming codeshare agreements between airlines from US and Mexico. This will be great news for Delta/Aeromexico.

This will be huge for Mexican airlines, especially for Aeromexico, who has been flying with old B738s. Now that has a huge amount of new B737s MAX on its fleet, they will now be able to fly these modern aircraft to the US!

This also will be beneficial for Volaris and VivaAerobus; they will be able to fly many new routes which they had planned for years!

Personally I’m very happy to see that. This will create a huge boom for the Mexican aviation industry, and the US-Mexico market.

What’s your opinion about that?
