Experience with United (specifically the 767)

For Christmas I flew GVA-EWR-NAS-EWR-ZRH all with United Airlines. We had a Boeing 767-300 between GVA-EWR and EWR-ZRH, an Airbus A320 between EWR-NAS and a Boeing 737-800 between NAS-EWR. All flights were in Economy. I just wrote all major points on all flights. Short and simple.

GVA-EWR:

  • It was an old aircraft with an old cabin except for the Polaris part.

  • The food wasn’t bad when you think you taste 30% less things at 35’000 feet.

  • The crew was really sympathetic and friendly.

  • The legroom was pretty small compared to other companies and the seats were quite uncomfortable.

  • The IFE screens were really small and the quality of the screen simply bad. You had the choice between four films and eight music channels. (see picture below)

  • There was WiFi available, which is was pretty cool, but it was payed. If you have the United App (which you should download before you board), you have free access to films and TV series on your personal device. Don’t forget to fully charge it or to take your powerbank with you as there weren’t any USB chargers in Economy class.

EWR-NAS:

  • 1+ hour delay due to technical problems.
  • No IFE screens.
  • WiFi (same as GVA-EWR so see above for more informations)
  • Free drinks and paid snacks were available.
  • Confortable seats.
  • Nice and friendly crew.

NAS-EWR

  • 20 minutes delay.
  • Paid DIRECT TV.
  • Paid WiFi available.
  • No IFE on personal devices.
  • Free drinks and paid snacks were available.
  • Confortable seats.
  • Nice and friendly crew.

EWR-ZRH

  • IFE available! Touch screens and USB charger ports, everything needed was here!
  • The crew was really sympathetic and friendly.
  • Normal food (SWISS is still better in my opinion).
  • Paid WiFi available.
  • Great seats and legroom! (by far the best of all flights)

Overall: 5/10
