Eurowings GmbH is a German airline based in Düsseldorf.[6] It was founded in 1993 as a regional airline and has been a subsidiary of Lufthansa since 2011. In 2015, Eurowings took over the flights offered by Lufthansa outside the Frankfurt and Munich hubs as well as the connections previously marketed by Germanwings and now offers direct flights within Europe, i.e. on short and medium-haul routes. Eurowings’ main base is Düsseldorf Airport.
