This is why I hate Etihad!
Make a a huge loss by deploying a huge aircraft on a route with poor occupancy rate or deploy it on a route with a huge demand for additional seating and make more money. I think commercial sense takes priority here ;)
You are absolutely correct. Firstly their are low cost carrier that can do the same just half the price, if not half atleast will be less. Moreover the distance is completed within 4 hours. So why on earth would Etihad use an A380 for that, makes no sense to me. They could’ve used a smaller aircraft for that. Since the distance is small therefore no one even would prefer taking Premium class since people would like to enjoy long hours Premium facility. So that makes all complete sense. And honestly they can put a Dreamliner for that. There isnt usually a heavy demand for seats in this route as there are many aircrafts that flies from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai or either via Mumbai as a stop. So that leaves little public for Etihad.
Actually their Economy is fully sold out on all flights and business half full while in first there might be one or two people only so your statement is kind of invalid.
Read my reply to Joshua.
Etihad airways are doing good in changing the aircraft but according to Abu Dhabi airport statistic.Mumbai Intl airport is somewhere on top 5 busiest passenger traffic according to Abu Dhabi airport statistic.many people from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi 3-4 hours trip most of them prefer to fly on economy and few business.but the residence on the flight think so it will be of no use.I think they should make up flight regularly as by large passenger on this route. But they should make up flight with large economy seats and some businesses classes to gain a nice profit. @Princeboy360
Economy doesn’t make the airline money , business and first class is where all the profit is , that is airline economics 101 …
So if Mumbai is running low on load factor in J/F while Paris has a huge demand for F/J , this makes complete sense , hence making your point invalid
