Error Code 7 - Server Connection Issue

Dear Infinite Flight Team,

During a flight today, I encountered a significant connection issue. At 500 feet, during the landing phase, I received the message: “Infinite Flight cannot connect to the server (error code 7).” This issue severely impacted my flight experience.

Here are the details of the flight:
• Departure Airport: KJFK
• Arrival Airport: LTFM
• Flight Date and Time: December 29, 2024, approximately 08:59 (05:59 UTC)
• Platform: iPad 2024 M4, iOS 17.3

Could you please investigate the cause of this issue and provide a solution? Additionally, I would appreciate any suggestions to prevent such errors in the future.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I understand the steps to resolve connectivity issues, but I would like to point out that my 10-hour flight had no connection problems at all. Everything worked perfectly until I reached 500 feet during the final approach, when I suddenly received the error.

Is it normal for such an issue to occur specifically at that stage of the flight? It seems unusual given the stability throughout the entire journey.

Looking forward to your clarification.

Error code 7 usually is not related to any stage of a flight or the graphics settings for that matter, because it (usually) indicates a network issue.

During short final, network traffic increases, which could potentially cause app crashes if RAM runs out, but it will not generate Error Code 7 in that case.

It’s most likely a coincidence that it happend on final approach.
If it does happen again though, let us know.

Thank you for your explanation. However, it’s hard to believe that this is just a coincidence. My device has enough RAM, and as I mentioned earlier, the flight was completely smooth for 10 hours; there were no connectivity or performance issues.

Experiencing such an error at the most critical stage of the flight is quite frustrating, especially when there were no signs of any issues beforehand. Could this be related to a server-side problem during high network traffic?

If this happens again, I will inform you, but I hope for a more concrete explanation or a preventive solution.

Thank you for your time.

I’m sorry you couldn’t finish your flight.
I understand the frustration.

Like I said, certain issues can happen at short final, due to the RAM not being (entirely) cleared, which Apple seems to have become less good at lately, but it would not generate Error Code 7.
That really indicates a network issue somewhere along the long route to the IF servers, with its many nodes.

If it’s a one-time occurrence, there’s no much we can do.
If it turns out not to be a one-time occurrence, we need to be able to reproduce the issue to investigate.

not encounter this issue with previous updates. However, the “Code 8” and “Code 7” errors only appeared after the recent update. It is clear that these issues have been caused by the new update. A “Code 7” error points to a network issue, which is unacceptable. If this was a one-time occurrence, it should be clarified. If the issue recurs, I expect a solution.

Thank you for your time.
Best regards,
Special thanks to @Dogac , @Jan

Unfortunately network issues can potentially occur anywhere in the network.
Like I already explained, there are many nodes along the route from your device to IF’s servers.

There’s nothing to be done about a one-time occurrence.

If it happens again, let us know and we will investigate. :)
